Bristle Nose Getting Bullied
So i got a 1.5" pleco who seems to have his fins nipped at. Im almost 100% sure its the Red Wag Velvet Swordtails in the tank cause the guppies seem to nice and the Angel Fish are always by themselves.
Anyways to prevent this? Will this Kill my baby? Should i just add Anti-bacterial stuff to help repair his fins faster and let him get bigger so he is at less risk of getting bullied.
Hummm...I've always thought that bristles were pretty capable of defending themselves. My bristle was added to my tank at 1 inch and held his own against loaches, rams, etc.
I'm surprized that swordtails would possess the ability to pick on a pleco or even be interested in bothering him. I'm stumped :-?
Are you sure it's other fish nipping at the fins? What size is the tank, what else do you have in there fish-wise and what are your water parameters and maintenance routine?
Also, how long have you had the bristlie for?
the tank is 55
x2 Angel fish
x1 Male guppy
x2 Female (Pregnant) Guppies
X4 Female Sword tails (x2 are Pregnant)
x2 Male Swordtails
and of coarse the x1 bristle nose
i have plenty of plants in there and he is a good hider.
I do 10% water change twice a week. and a 25% water change every two weeks.
had the bristle in there before i had the Swordtails. so about four weeks.
aww poor little guy.
could well be the swords.providing many hides made from rocks and slate
may be a benifit to him,i know you have plants, but i wonder if low level hiding places
would be a help until he gets bigger,
i have trouble with my platys, they can be nasty little horrors, and traumastised an angel fish one time.
unfortunatley my FW "Master" kit is Extremly old (8yrs) and it didnt come with a Nitrate test. Im going to try to get a new kit.
I will Do a Water change!
I built a little cave. Its Dark Slate. (i think) anyways its pretty awesome looking and he better be grateful and actualy use it. :D
