Snail milk?
I saw a web site that sells snail milk.( I plan to put some Nerite snails in my brackish tank once I get it cycled. Any one used this product? Would it be a complete waist of money?

Never tried it but it does sound promising. They have written good information thus far and unlike other companies that claim replacements especially towards water changes rather than beneficial additions, this one doesn't. You could give it a try. Nerite snails absorb a lot more calcium than the apple snails and most other species of snails so you need to dose plenty of calcium to avoid shell erosions especially when you are planning a good number of these snails. Do note nerites also eat a lot of algae and excrete a lot of wastes in return. No evidence has been proven that calcium overdose can harm a snail in any way. Despite the plaster of Paris pucks added and frequent water changes to replenish the minerals used up by the snails, I still drop in calcium tablets such as Tums or Caltrate.

Thanks. I think I will buy some when I add some snails. I think it is interesting that it has iodine in it. Im thinking maybe all my fish could benefit from it as well.
On that website, she talks about using salt in aquariums. I found it interesting. She says she uses marine salt in all her tanks. She considers it more natrual, since all bodys of water contain salt from the sea. I have not made a switch yet, but I have been thinking about it.

Not all information by sites are true. She is using marine salt for the wrong reason if she mixes it in her FW tanks. Snails do not need salt.
