May I know what size your tank is? Has your tank already finished cycling phase? What are your water parameters? Your ammonia and nitrite must remain at zero as both are toxic to fish. Nitrates should not exceed 40 ppm. 20 ppm is max at best. If you are unsure of your water parameters, please consider buying API liquid test kit which should compose of ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, pH, KH and GH. Also, what filter are you using and what filter media are in it?
