removing lobster I have a blue spiny lobster that seems to think that everything I put in the tank is dinner. I have looked locally for a trap on one has one. any ideas to get him out of the tank. I have live rock all over that he hides in when I put the net in, and yes I put food in the net. He didn't fall for the trap. Roger |
Other than telling you to remove the rock he hides in, hoping he will stay attached, I could only recommend a trap. Worst case scenario would be to hook it. If it absolutely must go, you could get a tiny trout hook. File the brab off or buy catch and release barbless hooks. They make them so tiny you can barely tell they are a hook. Put a piece of dinner on it and try and snag the lobster. |
I heard of someone who removed a mantis by talking a mugg and placing the open end close to the side of the tank,,then he put food in it and when the shrimp went in he used a magnet algea cleaner to block him in. Just and idea. |
The only thing i can say, and it would be a last option is to remove everything from your tank and catch him that way. |
thanks for the help I think I will do a modification. Your sugjustions really helped. I will try food in a mug and push it aginst the wall with a stick Thanks Wish me luck :) |
Just wondering did you put that lobster in the tank or was he a hitchhiker? |
I put the lobster in the tank about 6 months ago. Why? |

Both the purple and blue are somewhat reef safe. I have a large purple. The main problem is that they knock over rock work and corals. |
''I put the lobster in the tank about 6 months ago. Why?'' as stated before i was just wondering. |
