Perfect lighting
2 Attachment(s)
I have a ten gallon aquarium that i purchased when i got a tetra care 10 gallon starter kit. It came with an incandescent hood with 2 incadescent bulbs ( I know not good for plants) I have an amazon sword in the tank, multiple moneyworts, banan plant, java moss and anubias nana. I replaced the 2 incadescent bulbs with 2 compact flurescent light bulbs ( one being 12 watts and theother being I believe is 10 watts or 13 watts)

Is this lighting good for the plants in the aquarium or should I get another hood or lighting?

Could someone please tell me how to put pics up so i can show a pic of the hood? thank you :-)

It should be good, but do you know the kelvin rating on the bulbs. Usually we use 6000-1000K bulbs for growing plants. It doesn't have a major effect though.

You can buy bulbs specifically designed for those sockets for plant growth. Here they are:

Small Aquarium Lighting: Mini Compact Bulbs

You'll want the Colormax bulbs, not the 50/50 ones. Wal-mart sells a cheap knock-off brand of a similar product (look in their aquarium section) for about half the price. I have a couple of those bulbs in some of my smaller tanks and they seem to work just as well as the Coralife ones, though I'm not sure of the Kelvin rating on them.

Ive seen those bulbs before but ive never looked into them because i always assumed that they were simply cheap knock offs that were incapable of helping my plants. I ll look into them though
