Am I fit to be fryed? (swordtails)
I'm wondering if my my tank mates will be suitable for fry.

First its a 20gallon tank mates include 3 swordtails 1 male orange w/black stripe on tail, 1 orange female(assumed preg.), 1 mickey mouse female(pregnant), 1 swordtail fry (female?)about 3/4 in, 2 white molly fry(1/2in), 1 corydoras sterbai (not 100% sure)
None of them are aggressive.

Second I have a breeding net, but I'd prefer not to use it. (I remember reading somewhere the swordtails wont eat their fry?) I do have plenty of plants.
Should the plants be enough?

I'm new to the live bearers, but have had fish for 5 years now.

I always thought swordtails ate their fry but in your case, even if the parents don't eat the fry the other fish like the corydora or the mollies(when they get bigger) can eat them. If you want to succesfully breed them I would recomend to put the pregnant fish in the breeding net when they are really square shaped and have a redish blackish spot near their butt. Once the pregnant fish releases all of her babies you can put her back in the tank withthe other fish. Usually the mother fish will lose her appetite for about 12 hours after she releases her babies. They usually tend to have their babies late at night or early in the moorning. I hope this helps.

Thank you, I will definitely use the net. I'm really hoping everything goes good with my Mickey Mouse.
I just uploaded a video of my mickey swordtail to youtube, I will link it as soon as I can.

i wouldn't use the net it stresses your fish
swordtails will eat there young
what kind of plants do you have if they are thick enough they can hide were the other fish cant get them and many will survive if you feed the other fish well soon they will grow up and wont fit in their mouths
