Can too many floating plants added at once hurt growth?

I know all you need to get started are a few stems, but I added enough water sprite at once to completely cover the surface of my 55 because I wanted immediate shade for my anubias and crypts, also got a couple amazon swords in there. Does adding that many mean more nutrients/fertilizer is needed than if I just had put in a couple stems? Running a dual T8 fixture with a life glo 6700 and a GE 6500k bulb. Plan is to add flourish comp twice a week with lights on 7 hrs a day.

You probably don't need to be concerned about the nutrients with a twice weekly comp dosage; however, the swords need more light than your other plants. If you could create a space less shaded for them, it would be a good idea.
