Dream tank?

Is there a tank on your wish list? Something you're waiting for the money or the right circumstances to do?

I'm currently looking for my first full time teaching job (so far have only done after-school care) preferably teaching high school art, or high school ESL. Getting hired would enable me to buy a home, and when I do I want a fish tank coffee table. The ones on amazon that I looked at seem to be acrylic tanks though, I would prefer all glass on a solid wooden base. Chances are I'd hire someone local to craft it for me based on my own sketch.

Building.. well rebuilding my cichlids tank will satisfy me for a while! So much work! It's only 72g though and honestly I have several absurd dream tanks..some crazier then others. (I know the tanks on Amazon you're talking about though) I want a huge tank built into the wall see through on both sides as a divider from the back of my bed to my bathroom. So ummm yea, gotta wait till no kids in the house for that one or just no kids in my room period lol. I would guess at least 500g for that. Then the pipe dream one is not so much a tank...I have no clue what you would call it. A dinning room with the table on an island surrounded by water and two bridges to walk over it to get to the table. an in it would be fish of some sort then glass on the edges( at least two walls) that lead to the outside and that would be a pool where you could swim up and look in. and the other edges would be visable to whatever was downstairs like a finished basement man cave(but a woman cave for me:lol:)
but this one I saw today would be fun haha

this is what happens when I get a random day off work without kids ;-)

That is sooooo James Bond villian if you had sharks in there :D I get what you mean though, you'd have to have a basement that you could alter into a tank and remove the floors, add the platform/bridges, and put the pool outside right up against the house. I get it, sounds awesome though you'd need some big money!!

And omg, those Aviva commercials are hilarious!

And if the kids are the problem what about lining the bedroom with this then? Or the bath.

Oh yea , that's a nice tank! So maybe 500g isn't big enough.. Maybe 1500 or 2000. But nah, I want it to be the divider between the back of my bed and basically the shower. What I have toyed with is what was in my room at the Sofitel west Hollywood. They had a etched glass wall I'm exactly that spot but you could flip a switch and a has would make it not so see through. Idk this is all in my next house whenever I marry again lol NO TIME SOON!

Well that was all spelled and said wrong. oops.
The glass between the shower and the bed had a switch that had a gas that would make it not so see though.

Allison 06-12-2013 06:50 PM

Not sure how well that would translate for a fish tank though.

Allison 06-12-2013 06:51 PM

Oh, a curtain that can be drawn across on the shower side?

A tank somewhere around 300 gallons with a full on blackwater south american biotope, with around 15 angelfish, with no other fish. Leaf litter substrate over dark sand, branches and twigs all over the place, a few swords and vals.

Would probably create a '3D' background of some sort that emulates a riverbank. It would be wicked to possibly turn it into a riparium, with plants in the top of the background.

I had to google riparium but you're right, that would be gorgeous!
