Hey guys.. looking into setting up a brackish swamp tank for 1or 2 mudskippers,, just looking for ideas on tank.. and lightin.. would just an old fluro housing with a 40w 7400K fluro suffice for a 3 foot swampland.. and also what do you use to stop the sand from erroding with the filter current and the skippers going up and down the slope all day long
Umm I don't know much about them, I do know KEEP YOUR LID ON TIGHT!!! if they gget out they can walk around on fins!!!!!
Not sure about the lighting, but to stop erosion you could silicone in a piece of acrylic that's as tall as you want your sand bed to be. Mudskippers spend most of their time out of water, but if you had say a 6" sand bed with a 6" tall acrylic divider, water and maybe 1" of sand on the other side, you should be able to raise the water level to just over the top of the divider. This will keep the sand side moist, which the mudskippers will appreciate. Then, just use rocks or driftwood to create bridges from land to water. Just keep the filtration on the water side.
