I've got a 46 gallon bow front tank, currently I only have 15 inch space below the tank for anything I want... which I've not been able to find a sump that will fit that. I think I've talked myself into getting a better stand, or building a stand that will fit one. So now the next question is with a 46 gallon capcity tank, how big should my sump be, and are there any brands that are better than others?
Any help would be greatful.
i have a 46 gallon tank with a 45 gallon sump. i suggest going as big as space allows. the reason i went for a 45 gallon was that right from the start i knew i was going to a bigger tank.
i also recommend building a sump over purchasing something that i believe is overpriced. building your own also allows you to make it how you want it and to fit your needs.a brand new 20gal long tank $20-30, aquarium safe silicone $7-10, few sheets of acrylic $50 which totals $90. im sure if you keep your eyes open on www.craigslist.com you can find a larger used tank for cheap as well. in my opinion $90 + alittle time beats $200+ for a premade sump anyday. keep in mind room for a protein skimmer, if your going to incorporate a refugium and so forth.
please take alittle time and read this:
