5.5 gallon betta tank
 

Hey there. Well i have begun the cycle process with my tank. A few days ago I finally got some nitrites and nitrate readings. They are holding at .25 and 5.0. My ammonia though has spiked,and slowly going down. Though i keep getting smaller spikes. I did a 50% wc two days ago as my ammonia went back up to a 2. The next day it was at .5. Today its back up to 1. I know its supposed to eventually go down,but just wondering how long thats gonna take. Im gonna do a 25%-50% wc later tonite,then test in the am see how its going. I am using Seachems Stability to help the cycle process,plus amquel+ and novaqua+ as water conditioners. Im not sure that is affecting my tests or not. As for my fishy,he seems to be doing just fine. Has made multiple bubble nests already. Is very curious and active. I do see him rest on the floor of his tank and on his plants every now and again. I fed him a few pellets yesterday since the ammonia was low,but none today. I am keeping track of my results,and ill keep you all updated. Oh i did also throw in some gravel from my sisters tank for good measure.

hi, please remove the fish from the cycling tank ., the betta is an air breather, therefor the cycling will be a bit less traumatic and destructive for it. take him to your sisters tank till the cycling is complete. do not make water changes or use any additives , they will disrupt the cycle process.the stability and the gravel from your sisters tank will help the cycling along.. please do not use fish in a tank that is in cycle, it is cruel and inhumane treatment.
