Hi guys I just picked up a couple of new cory cats for my tank the other day and i woke up to find one of them floating at the top, the one thing is that every time i touch it it immedatly swims down to the bottom of the tank like normal but then floats up again againt its will, is it possible for them to gulp too much air to where they float?
sounds like a swim bladder thing, catch it in a net, hold it on an angle head upwards belly facing up. hold on an angle under water, gently massage the belly from anal fin towards the mouth, this may dislodge the trapped air, you can also pinch the abdomen gently (side to side ) in the area of the anal fin. good luck!
when you do that though make sure that their side fins dont poke you, they use them as defence when they are in the mouth of a bigger fish
