what should i put in my 10 gallon
I have a 10 gallon with a small female common pleco(about 2.5 inches at 7 months old). The tank is cycled, and is ready for some fish. I just haven't gotten around to it yet.
I plan on getting a 30 to 60 gallon in a few months, but, for now I'd like to get some fish that do more than hide in a log all day. I have a few plants, but, I'd also like to get more in the future. for now I'll start with the fish.
I was hoping I could get some advice as to what I should get for a vibrant and not so high maintenance tank, although weekly water changes are expected. Thank you!
Replace the common pleco with otos. Eventually, an adult common will require a very large tank and they contribute too much bioload. You could try some Pomacea diffusa. They're fun to watch and are available in dozens of colors. There are over dozens of species of nerite snails available as well. A lot of nerites unfortunately cannot breed in FW conditions except the European ones however they do quite a good job eliminating any algae they can find. I culture algae for my nerites to keep the supply constant.
