20g stocking ideas

Hi everyone! I got a 20g that has been cycling for just over a month now, and it's finally ready to go (YAY!). I've been on this site and others doing alot of research, trying to decide what I would like to put in, making sure I'm making the right decisions. I was thinking about doing 6 cherry barbs, a dwarf gourami, and a red tailed shark. I reaaaaaaally want the shark, so I'm willing to nix the barbs, gourami, or both, and build the tank around the shark if anything. Would this setup be ok, or are there are other species I should consider? Any input or advice is much appreciated. Thank you in advance, and happy holidays to all!

The only problem I'm seeing is that a red tailed shark is going to grow to be 6"+ in size. That's a big fish for a 20g tank. Long term you're going to want a larger tank for the shark, 30+ gallons.

I wouldn't do a shark in anything less than a 30G, better yet 30 long.

Yeah, what you're looking for is real estate on the bottom of the tank. The shark is a territorial bottom dweller, give him all the territory you can.

that si fine, but just dont do the shark, he will get to big in a 20 gallon, wait for whenever you plan to upgrade then decide if you still want to purchase one
