Gouramis...Again.

C'mon. I need help. I switched again for my 38g tank (see aquariums <--) and I'm decided on cardinal or giant neon tetras for my tank. But now I'm thinking of center piece fish...(getting them friday or saturday)

Either 3 pearls (2f/1m)
Or one blue/opaline gourami (1m)

I was also thinking about a dwarf, but I know they're small and more aggressive so he'd be chasing his reflection on the back wall the entire time (my bettas do this sometimes, different tank haha). So. Decide for me. GOGOGOGO

Do the pearls. Then again, have you ever seen giant gourami ? They look like a stretched dwarf gourami. Just kidding, I think the pearls are beautiful, elegant fish.

Here's a video of my pearls, along with some of the other fish. I usually pick better music....

Yes, one of the denison barbs doesn't have a tail. It's been like that for more than a year. I have rehabbed it twice in quarantine, and both times the other barbs nipped it back down to the base. They just don't want it to have a tail, for whatever reason. They don't bother it otherwise - they leave it alone.

You made my mind up. BUT I CAN'T FIND ANY MALES GAH AFHKDHFKLDSJFKLDSJ.

I checked my LFS like a bajillion (2x) and they all looked to be female. Some that MIGHT be male because of anal dorsal fins, but they have no orange and their dorsal fin is round.

Just wait till you find the one you want. Don't want to get one then later be bored by it. However if you're turned off by the agression is the only reason you don't want dwarfs.. I have three and honestly they have no aggression. But each tank does change a fishes personality.
So are you wanting three pearls? 3 seems to always be the magical number wth gouramis IMO ( both females, males, or mixed)

I think the pearls are gorgeous but I agree with Agent13 that the dwarfs aren't always aggressive. I had one in a community tank with larger and smaller fish and he never bothered anyone.

In my experience they are only aggressive with their own kind. I have read accounts of peoples DGs harassing other species, but often they are in a tank that's too small.

Go big or go home .lol
Sorry.... thread hijacking with my life motto

however mine don't even harass eachother. no issues.

Well, I do have a 38g, moderately planted. I do like DG's colors, but the PG's just look so pretty! haha You see my issue.

I was also thinking the PG's will look better with the tetras because of the "neon" colors on DG. (If I get a DG, it will likely be a neon blue DG)...we'll see...I'm 80% sure with the pearls. But now I'm looking at blue gouramis again...GAH. I give up.
