What Happened?

i didnt come home last night i stayed at a mates house.. and i checked my shrimp tank when i got home and it was really murky.. have a little look closer and i seen a couple of dead shrimp on the bottom on there side.. i turned the light on and had a better look and EVERYTHING is dead.. i did a quick check of the PH level and it is WAY WAY too low it doesnt even registar.. what went wrong..
i started dosing DIY CO@ and the PH dropped from about 7 to 6.8 and was steady around there fofr three days... and now im not home ONE night and everything is dead.. i only seen the shrimp and BN dead i didnt want to look at it anymore to see if the plants are dead or anything.. i just dont understand..
please someone help me.. if i start a new tank i dont want to have the same thing happen again..
:(

Did you check your CO2? I believe your CO2 rose thus killing them in the process. This is evident by just your very low pH and total loss of livestocks. What are your hardness levels that the pH really sink so low?

i dont know about hardness.. but i had a adjustable valve on my co2 outlet.. and i had my bubble tube going 24/7.. and all this happened in maybe 18 hours..

What an awful thing to come home to. I'm really sorry.

Sounds like the CO2 went wonky. Excess CO2 will drive your pH down and a rapid pH swing is as deadly to fish as an ammonia spike.
