I might have accidentally purchased one of these little guys when I was intending to buy more female b. splendens. I'm intrigued by them, but I'm not sure i can provide a great home for it since it's not, well, b. splendens, and i don't really think it's supposed to live with b. splendens.
my water is very soft and acidic though. I could easily house the b. coccina in a 1 gallon tank, and perhaps later on find it a mate and put the pair in a 5 gallon (as i've read is sufficient on a couple of other websites).
Does anyone have any recommendations for this particular species? i wasn't intending to get this little guy. I might even return it later in the week (but i'm already a little attached. whoops ;) )
This reliable data may help you. I've not kept this species.
