red oscar, one big, one little
I was wondering if a large (12") red oscar would pick on a smaller red oscar (5") if they became tank mates. please let me know.
I don't find oscars to be very aggressive, but with that said I have only had experience with africans, that's probably why. If they have plenty of hiding places and PLENTY of room then they should be alright. But how large is this tank you are wanting to put them in. If it's too small they will definitely bully eachother to gain more room.
It depends on a lot of factors. Size of the aquarium, presence of dither fish and especially the sex of the fish. Cichlids all have very individual personalities so you might have a big ol' softy on your hands, but on the flip side he might be incredibly aggressive. Just be prepared to net the little guy out and take him right back to the store.
