4 new baby guppies, but the mum died?
I noticed last night that one of my fat female guppies was swaying side to side, rather then swimming around like the others. I thought nothing of it and went to bed.
I looked at the tank this evening and noticed that the female guppy was dead at the bottom of the tank and was no longer fat. I looked around the tank and noticed 4 tiny baby fish! :)
I have put the baby guppies into a small container, and placed it floating on the surface of the tank. I placed a tiny amount of fish flakes in the container for them too.
Any ideas on how the female died? I assume it was a birth-related death as all the other guppies are fine.
Also any suggestions and advice for how I can take extra special care of these babies?
P.S - Current tank tempreture is 24.5
hiya  and welcome to Fish Forum i think you wil like it ehre as our people are very nice and very knowledgable of these topics.
24.5 celsius i assume. if it was farhenhiet then maybe a little too cold. yeah maybe it was stress related. wats the size of yyour tank? how much fish in there? maybe also birth related as youve assumed also. grind up the flake food for your babies as they need very small peices of it. do yu have pictures? my guppy died too at the bottom of my tank....all 4 of them...
Probably stress. If you have thickets of plants, it may not happen easily as the female has the chance to rest and escape the attention of her other tankmates.
No special care required for livebearer fry. They just eat almost every food you give them.
Hmm what i hear you have to set up an aquarium for those baby guppies
Theyll probly die in unheated/filter/aired tanks
i have had this problem before but i was awake when this happend. Female fat starting to have babys, baby got stuck, female died.
that was probably your problem and stress from males when giving birth.
