New to Fish Forum
Glad I found this site, I look forward to gaining some knowledge about fish so that i can further my hobby.
Here's my first question:
I currently have a 20G tank with a Penguin 200 filter (hung over the back). I have noticed lately that there is a white film which is being built up on the light which sits atop my tank. I've also noticed there is some on the back lip of the tank (next to the filter). I tried to read about this stuff but can't find much on it, seeing as I don't know the technical name. I think they are calcium deposits? That is a complete guess. It doesn't affect the water, all my levels check out perfectly and the tank is crystal clear. After a week when I do my weekly water change, it becomes hard and crusty, I normally need to rub it pretty hard to break it up to remove it.
I just need to know if this stuff is harmful to my tank or if it's normal. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone and I look forward to talking with you all! :-D
I also just noticed that I posted this in the Saltwater Forum, not Freshwater...I'm going to repost in the Freshwater Forum....call it a newbie mistake!!! Thanks
