zebra danio hurt
I noticed this afternoon that my largest zebra danio is hurt. It's like the top part of his mouth is GONE. He's been laying at the bottom of the tank today - something he has never done. I'm thinking he's probably going to die, I just wonder if I should kill him quickly or let him sit in there and suffer.
He could of been in a fight with another tank member and he is just healing.Who knows.:)
I think he should be fine - my danios pick on eachother alot and then one of them always hides for a bit to recover. They're hardy little fish! Just wait a few days and see how he does.
I agree with what has been said. My zebra danio are very active and do nip at each other all the time.
I am amazed at how hardy this little fish are. I thought I injured one to the point he was going to die when trying to net him. He chilled at the bottom for a day but then popped right back into the action like nothing happened at all.
Does it look like mouth rot or fungus? May want to put some antibiotics in the water.
If part of the fishes mouth is gone it will affect it's ability to eat and could lead to infection at the damaged area. I would euthanize the fish.:|
OK so what was the outcome? Did he make it or did you flush him?
mine always fight. but thats probably the most active fish in my tank. ZIP.. ZOOM, ZEEEEEEP. all around lol
