Could this be Ich?
:-? One of my neons has a spot on the tip of their tailfin and one has a white spot about halfway on the red part of their body plus a smaller spot on the tailfin as well.
Sorry they are so blurry....they are fast!I Haven't noticed any change in behavior..I did turn the heat up to 86 for a few days and nothing changed so I raised the temp to 88 and it seems to me the spot on the body of the one neon is smaller today, but could be wishful thinking..
Water is 0 amonia, 0 nitrite and <5 nitrate so water is good. Moved them from another tank about three weeks ago, so I am thinking stress if it is Ich...is this what it looks like? I've never had anything before..
Nope, not ich. Blurry pics, but good enough to see that it is not. Can you get a clearer picture?
I'll try and get a better picture tonight...they are so quick...
Whatever it is, the heat seems to be helping, the spots look smaller this morning ??
Ich looks like the fish has grains of salt on it. In the picture I only see the large spots. Are there other spots?
No, those are the only spots...
Thanks for your help Jaysee
These are a bit clearer....Different on each fish
well .....ich is supposed to be like grains of salt but yours only have a few :-?, i also have neons, some of my neons have spots like yours but not the big white thing and they look fine they have been like that for 3 weeks.that big white thing i think is some sort of injury because one of my guppy has a big white spot in its fin seens i had it ( it has been with me for 2 moths with it ). are you experienced in fishkeeping ? neons are fragile fish because of excessive breeding their genetics are weak.i am not experienced in fish keeping and i accidentally bought 6 without knowing and two died :-( but the others seem to be fine thankfully for know
Hi Steve: I agree I don't think it is ich, I tried the heat treatment for over a week and no change, the one on the tail does look like an injury and the other one, more internal, so I'm not sure. I inherited these neons from a friend tearing down his tank and yes they are very fragile little things. It's a shame, they are so colorful in a school. I've had tanks on and off for about twenty years, but it is always a learning experience. Good luck with your neons!
