What is the formula for calculating gallons based on dimensions?
(Length * Width * Height)/231
This is for measurements done in inches.
Another way to get a quick estimate is volume in cubic feet times 7.5 gallons per cubic foot. I can usually do it in my head and am within fractions of a gallon of the real number in a very large tank. No way I can multiply out the larger numbers of cubic inches to divide by 231 but that is closer to the accurate answer.
Thanks. Just wanted to verify that it was the size I remember. I have a shed full of empty ones and it is hard to keep track.
