Is my Pleco okay?
So I have noticed probably about 2xs a week my pleco will get these stripes on him and I was wondering why. Could he be stressed out? Also could someone tell me what kind of Pleco he is? Here are a couple of pics. Oh by the way I don't know if it matters but he is in a 29 gallon tank with 2 black tetras, 3 sarpei tetras, 1 dalmation molly, 3 red wag platys and a female betta.
I think it is just fine. I think he/she is gorgeous. Difficult to ID exactly w/ just pics. Get on line and do research on Plecos. Ther are many many variety and look alikes!!!
Just make sure your water parameters are within reason but looking at the pics, I thik fish is displaying healthy coloration.
I agree. Mine does the change from dark coloring to white looking stripes, especially during water changes. Maybe due to stressers in the environment (or camouflage technique?) but I don't think it's anything to worry about. Mine is a common pleco and looks alot like yours.
Looks a lot like Pterygoplichthys joselimianus. Any more pics from different angles?
