10G finally set up Now that I work at an aquarium shop, its kind of hard not to set up un-finished tanks... So my 10G currently has Fish 12 Neon tetras 5 Otocinclus 1 Female Betta Plants 2 Thin Val 1 Java Fern 4 stems of Blue stricta 1 Wisteria 2 big clumps of dwarf hairgrass 1 Giant Cardamine 2 Echin Grisebachi Do you think it is overcrowded? I'll take a pic soon enough, just as soon as I find the data cable... |
I'd say right on the line. Neons and ottos are small with corresponding small bioloads but you have a lot of them. Add in the betta and I wouldn't be adding anything else. |
My concern is for the oto's. you have quite a few plants that will compete for the algae that oto's need for their long term survival. If this is a new tank with little algae then the oto's will slowly starve unless you can supplement with veggies which some oto's may or may not eat. |
How strong is the filter? I would say your getting pretty close to overcrowded. The Tetras seem fine but the otos aswell. There are a lot for a small tank. I woundn't add any more. |
No intention of adding anymore... And with the oto's, this tank has been set up since february, and has very decent algae growth. Ontop of that, my otos love their algae wafers, AND, I culture algae stones for them. They're set........ |
Would love to see some pics of your 10G. Do you have any that you can post?? |
Sounds like a very nice set up - looking forward to the pics :-) |
Will post pics once I find the data cable...:-) |
Kritas, My apologies in regards to your post. I thought perhaps this was a new tank . Oto's do much better in established tanks and fair poorly in newer tanks without enough algae. |
