DIY diffuser for co2
I generally use a bell shaped glass diffuser for co2, however i often experience clogging in the white ceramic piece and/or the cracking of the fragile glass... Having to again replace it today, I chose to jerry rig a wooden airstone that produces extremely fine bubbles to the co2 line instead - and place this wood airstone immediately beneath the intake fan of a powerhead. Does this set-up reduce the effectiveness of co2 injection and should I return to old glass diffusers? Or am I ok with this, possibly better off, now that the co2 is better spread throughout the tank and eventually spread towards the entire water's surface....? I didn't do too hot in chemistry, so just guessing as usual here.... Thanks in advance... -mike

At the suggestion of many DIY CO2ers, I run the CO2 line directly into the intake tube of my HOB filter. Seems like your method would have pretty much the same impact. If you are able to do the filter intake, you might try it. One less thing in the tank.
