Guppy on the bottom...
One of my male guppies is lying on the bottom of the tank "gasping". He doesn't seem to be flashing or rubbing and there are no other outward signs of sickness. When bumped by me or another fish he will move but then quickly sinks back to the bottom. I have gone to daily water changes and I'm not sure that this is really helping. Up until yesterday he was coming up to eat, now he is not even doing that.
In the tank I have two other female guppies, one of which gave birth to her fry yesterday, and 2 cory's. No one else seems affected and the fry are fine.
Water, per the LFS, tested within the normal limits.
Any ideas on what could be going on?
Well the little guy passed on. is there anything I should do to treat the water for the other fish?
:-( This was my first little fishy death.
Perhaps just old age? I'm sorry you lost him, that's never fun.
When I first started taking care of my guppies, my first few seemed to die like that too. Only the males though, it was so strange, and I couldn;t find any sort of diagnosis at all. Still a complete mystery to me...
But my guppies are all fine now :)
I just cured one of White Spot without medication :)
you really do need to get your own test kit.
the lfs is not reliant on giving the correct readings.
you need to know what is going on in your water.
