Ghost Catfish HELP

Hello,

I have 4 ghost catfish in a well planted 30 gallon tank. There are also a couple glass fish in there. The tank is heated to 78*.

All four of the catfish hang out right next to the heater all the time. I thought that they were cold, the temperature was a little low (73*), so over the last few days I slowly raised it back up to 78*.

Any idea why they might be hanging out there? Or how I could lure them back into the rest of the tank?

Thanks!

hi
would it be possible to make the group bigger ?
perhaps drop some bloodworm into the fiter flow they may chase it
further into the tank.

Hi,

1. Are there any plants that provide shady cover in the tank? Ghost catfish require a good deal amount of cover in their tank as they cannot cope with the light well...
2. Is the heater right next to the filter? I ask this because if it is, it means that your catfish are trying to get the current from the filter. Ghost catfish are river dwellers, meaning their waters are fast-moving.

If the answer is yes to question 2, then I suggest buying a powerhead. Hopefully it won't disturb the plants too much with all the oxygenation and all... Without faster moving waters all over the tank, your catfish could end up dying.

Hope that helps:thumbsup:

Ok, thanks.

I'll try moving around a couple things and see how that works.

My Chost Catfish Always Hangs out bye the filter, And my gourami hangs out bye the heater. Is your catfish new? if so, this is probably the reason, sometimes fish take a while to intergrate, and during this time they are very timid and stay in a certain spot. this will stop eventually. they probably feel safe bye the heater, and once they learn theres nothing to fear, exploration will take place. If they arent new, there fine and if 4 of them hang out there, there all fine together. like kritas said, moving stuff around will help, or geting more catfish will also.
