Pics of my first planted aquarium how did i do?
I chose low to medium light plants since i have a home made light system with 56w .
I forgot the names.. Too long to remember. Water is a little cloudy. This pic is like 5 min after i finished planting them. Sorry for the pic quality.. Its a old digital camera that i have
Thanks . I am going to wait and see which survive to the type of lighting that I have. Which ever do i am going to buy more.
generally speaking "red colored" plants require higher lighting.
why buy more? why not wait until they grow and propogate them yourself?
research how your plants multiply and you can have many many plants just from 1 or 2. some are as easy and breaking/cutting it in half (like anarchis for example) or splitting the rhizome (the cluster of roots, like amazon swords) others send out runners with new plants on them.
what kind of fertilizer do you use?
Onefish2fish, you are wrong about "red coloured" needing more lighting... Not attacking you or anything, just setting the facts straight. Reddish plants do not need higher lighting, but they do require more iron in the substrate, and are abit more in need of Co2 than green plants(not too much more)...
Better off getting Eco-complete if you intend on planting it real good, or if not maybe a few root tabs will do the trick.
Split the roots like onefish2fish said, and plant them at least 2 inches apart, so they will have space to grow.
I reccomend Dupla fertilizer. It is extremely concentrated stuff, and only needs 1 drop every three days for a 12 gallon tank. I use it on my 10G and my plants are turning up great, that is, with a few Co2 tablets too.
Hope that helps:thumbsup::smile:
looking godd,well done on your hard work, :)
patience...ure plants will grow and have jumpers, so dont go buy new plants yet. I think u have some plants there that need a little more room between the stalks. I think u have some Cabomba Carolina behind the wood. U shd leave abt 2cm between each stalk otherwise he lower part of the plant wont get enuf light. Same for the green plant with the round leaves. They're fast growing plants.
If that is an echinodorus bleheri in the right corner, then it will take over half the tank in a few months.....so dont go buy more plants yet
