I need to identify this fish...help please?
i have no idea what this fish is, and id like to be able to feed him right...came with the55 gal and a 12" oscar that i bought...i have seen him eat a minnow or two...i have seen him eat krill...i have seen him eat pellets...i dont know what he is, or how best to care for him. hes about 8-10" long
I believe it is a dinosaur Bichir. I found this on them: Gray bichir - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
yeh its a senagal bichir very cool fish...have one myself just feed it bloodworms, pellets, worms, basically anything they will eat almost everything....mine loves shrimp pellets tho....as for the care a 55 will be fine for one of these a little on the small side but he will do fine....just make sure you have a tight fitting lid
I have a pair of these guys, and I own nothing cooler. I feed mine sinking pellets twice a week, and some combination of beefheart, chopped clams, ground krill, plankton, and silversides twice a week, and once a week I throw about 3 dozen ghost shrimp in their tank. Every couple of months I throw in a dozen or so swordtails and guppies than a friend of mine culls from his 75. (This is in a 110, mind you, with 3 fully grown Leopard Bushfish, so a high protein diet is in order in any case.)
