Hah, I've just noticed my platy has had another batch of fry... thats like 2 in two weeks. I know my grow out tanks over stocked now but it won't really matter until they are much bigger. My only thing is that I've just found 15 new fry and the 11 I have from roughly two weeks ago seem interested in picking on the smaller ones. The new ones aren't so small that the older fry could eat them... But they could do some damage. And I still see fry swimming around in my main tank... But my ten gallon grow out tank now has 26 fish in it... Sooo I think those guys can try and survive in the main tank. Lol I feel mean but it would be meaner if I saved them and couldn't house them properly. I already have some of these fish promised out to people and I have a feeling my LFS would gladly take some healthy blue platies from me. Plus I have other tanks that I could house these guys in once they are a little big bigger. So my only issue is the old fry picking on the younger ones. Should I just throw the smaller ones in a fry net?
gosh that's a scary pic little fizz. :(
anyway back to the question.
if it were me i would put the smaller ones in a net if i wanted
to keep them,if not pop them into the big tank and let
nature take its corse.
Hah  He is pretty mean looking.
I do want to keep the little guys, I just wasn't sure if the bigger fry where like "hey whats that" and then leave them alone. Or if they were going to keep doing it until the poor little guys got picked on to death. I don't see them doing it so much now.
Lol I couldn't put them back, I would feel horrible. I'm actually staying away from my main tank right now because every time I go by I see another fry and I want to rescue it. She had a lot of babies this time :-?
maybe they'll be ok then,i always found that the new fry
that i had got eaten pretty quickly,by anyone who
could fit them in their mouths.
fry are amazing little things arnt they, just appear from nowhere.
no worries. :)
i wish i had an excuse back in the day like that, but then i just
wouldn;t have gone at all.
