Does anyone know what causes the white milky coloration that appears to kill Ghost shrimp?
Unless you're talking about the shrimp turning white while they're still alive or something like that. More details would help if that's happening.
yeah the shrimp is still alive. shes been that way for a few weeks
I have some grass shrimp (ghost shrimp) in my community tank. They start to turn white every once in a while. Then in a couple days I see a empty shrimp skeleton floating around. Initially I thought they died and someone ate them. But then I figured out it is because they are molting (shedding exo-skeleton) to grow a new one. When I see the skeleton floating around, if I look hard enough, I can usually see the shrimp hiding in a spot to stay safe until he is protected again. Hopefully this answers your question.
molting is my guess as well. however leave the empty shell in the tank. shrimp need the shell and after a few days they eat it to get the protein. if your shell floats around for a week, go ahead and get rid of it your self though.
she died suddenly, sh started acting lethargic then when I came home I gound her brokem in half with the other shrimps grabbing her corpse. Her insides ere white
