barb mixing
I was at a pet store today and spotted nice young pentazona barbs. I was about to buy 7 of them when I decided to ask here if I can safely mix them with the existing inhabitants of the tank - tiger barbs, green barbs and albino. All the latter are old inhabitants - lazy and non-aggressive, although they used to be quite nasty. They may return to their old ways, I suppose, so I do not know if my small pentazona could be safe there.

Besides, I do not really know much about pentazona. I will read around, but it is nice to listen to experienced people's advice.

Well, I have actually bought the pentazona. Not being able to hear anything, I just read in the net. My old fat tigers are not happy, but they do not complain, so I can only guess. the pentazona are tiny and gentle. They are hanging around in the same manner as the tigers. Some of them are reddish - very pretty. I wonder how big they will grow.

didn't see your post here.
i've got these and they're great little fish, they'll grow
to about 2 inches, and do well in a group, they are not
like the tigers in the agressiveness,so should be ok.

Thank you Willow!

They are here, with the fat lazy old tigers! Only they are still babies and the tigers might look threatening to them. They now took to hiding in the leaves of a plant. I am afraid they do not get to eat much. I hope they'll get into normal.:-?

they should settle in like the others. :)
if you are really worried about their feeding, you could always
feed the others as normal, and just sprinkle a little bit
of the flake food over where they are.
water daphina spreads through the water well, and they should
get some of that with ease. :)

Well, I do hope they get something. The situation now is as follows: the little ones - pentazona - keep hiding in dense bushes. Apparently, the tigers look threatening to them. I haven't seen any obvious bullying yet. Maybe they engage in this behaviour when I'm at work... May that be that pentazona are hiding just because they are still very young?

hmm it could be that reason,
although having said that they are in a group,so they
should feel a little more secure. ?
