It's an obscession.....
Well, got home from a friends house, here's what we did today. It was great, and had a great time.....
I've always thought the best thing we can do for our dogs is to spend time playing with them. EVERYONE looks so HAPPY! Great photos...thanks for sharing!!
Yup. It's not just about training, playing has a great impact on your relationship with your dogs.
Here's a video of Betty's training.
Great video. I've never thought about setting my camera up & taping a training session. It's a good idea. Your dogs are great. Any problems with having a 3 dog pack? I've got two (both males) and am giving serious thought to adding a 3rd (female). My dog trainer seems to think it's not a good idea. She likes "even" numbers. Your thoughts??
It all depends on how the dogs are introduced, as well as the breeds. As for getting a female, it might add some minor issues like dominance, females tend to be more dominant. You would want to look for a dog that's more submissive than your current pack, as they have already set in their ways. But other than that, a 3 dog pack isn't bad at all. I don't think even numbers or odd numbers is even an issue. My trainer has 3 dogs herself, just added a golden to the pack. Her main 2 were a border collie and a sheltie, now she's also got a golden retriever. The golden is a male, and the other 2 are females. Just make sure you introduce all dogs, and make sure they get along.
what lovley pictures, they made me smile. :)
thanks for sharing, you looked like you had a fantastic time.
Sorry if I've missed it somewhere along the way, but how does she get on with other dogs that she doesn't know?
She doesn't like them very much, her anxiety levels are too high. She goes in to see the vet on Thursday to get her thyroid checked. She's got some classic signs of hypothyroid. The symptoms are weight gain with eating less, behavior problems, lathargic at times, and shedding more than usual. If she happens to be hypothyroid, the meds should bring her levels back to normal, and hopefully will be better with other dogs and some people. And the treatment isn't expensive either, she'll just need to be on meds the rest of her life and the pills are only about $15.00 for 90 days worth.
Will you get the results on Thursday, or will you have to wait on them?
