my two guppies are both heavily pregnant and ready to drop, the scabbier one gave birth to just one fry. theyve not been eating and iv searched the tank so there not hiding, shes still at fat as she was before....is she just holding on?
She is probably not done having her babies yet. If you have plenty of places to hide (I will also float plants real or fake at the top of my tank), and the mommies are well fed.. the fry should survive. I like to place my fry in a different tank so that I can raise their water temp and feed them their special variety of foods that I know adults are not eating. I keep my fry tanks bare bottomed so that it is easy to vaccum uneaten food and waste. I usually use a breeder box with the v-bottom. However if we are not home the mom usually ends up eating some, and I have had two eat all of their babies as they can swim back to the mom section. I also use sponge filters in my fry tanks.
