best filter for 100 gal tank
what filter would be the fest for a 100 gallon tank. i havent decided yet if its going to be fresh water or salt.
Fresh or salt kind of matters a lot.
A whole lot.
Kinda like that's the first thing you need to decide, then you can pick a filter.
I use a FX5 for my 100 fresh.
That is one pricey filter. Seems like it would also work well on a 200 gal??
That's also overkill on a 100 gallon aquarium. I'd do well on a 200 but I've heard conflicting reports about the filter. Lots of reports of leaks.
And again, it matters greatly whether we're talking salt or fresh and what type of fish so until we get that info its hard to recommend anything.
Also, from what I've heard people don't really like that filter. A lot of people say that the flow rate is much too high considering the volume of media in the filter, which reduces its effectiveness. You could almost pay for three Magnums for the price of one FX5 and I believe you'd get better filtration.
