"sand box"

I was thinking of burying a shallow glass dish of sand in the gravel my 30g (high) floor - because I have heard ghost shrimp and kuhli loaches appreciate a little sand. What sort of maintenance problems would I then have to look out for?

Thanks,

Jonathan

hi
you would just hover over the sand with the gravel vac,to
keep the surface clean, however you need to stir it on a regular
basis to stop it getting Anaerobic pockets.

Be aware that the sand probably won't stay where you want it. May or may not be maintenance-concerned depending on whether or not you care about sand mixed with your substrate.
