Monodactylus Argenteus Diet
These are largely herbivorous and will consume vegetable matter in great quantities.
Ideal water parameters for Monodactylus Argenteus
The Monodactylus Argenteus should be kept in an aquarium with the temperature ranging from 72 to 84 degrees Fahrenheit, and a Ph of around 8.
Monodactylus argenteus is quite popular among the brackish water species. It is known as a mono, fingerfish and moony. It comes from the coastal and inland waters of Africa and Asia. The mono is diamond-shaped, silver in color, and has two black stripes on the front half. The dorsal fin has a yellow tint with a black outline which is easily distinguished from the Monodactylus sebae.
Conditions are quite similar to scats and its counterpart, Monodactylus sebae. It grows very large requiring a 75 at most for a small group of 4-5. Salinity level should be increased as the juvenile monos grow.
Breeding and sexual dimorphism are not known however, like the Monodactylus sebae, they spawn in the estuarines and eventually migrate to the seas as they grow.
