umm a question on american toads

ok i normally know everything on toads but i forgot one lil detail so umm winter will be comming soon and i have these wild toads...should i let em hibernate? i dont want to kill em i was thinking maybe i could put em in my room and change the soil, clean the tank and add some plants idk which is better sand or just soil.... i have american toads well as a substrate i want something that will always stay clean...also i read and know this for a fact that "Waste products" can be used as a fertilizer for plants so i was thinking if i could maybe add live plants and add a few fake plants(as in creepers) and for the live plants i was thinking getting some moss (like for the sides...) and put 1-3live plants in the tank i only have three american toads in a 10gallon tank so please be aware of the space and yes their fine in there but i need a cleaner substrate something thatll help the tank not smell like doodoo xD like i myself cant really notice the animal scent since im used to animal scent it doesnt smell bad so yeah please give me advice

Where are you keeping them right now? Can you just release them and catch more in the spring?

Nope, you can't release them. You're never supposed to release wild amphibians back into the wild that you've held in captivity. There's the chance that they could come down with some weird illness while you have them that they wouldn't otherwise get, and they could spread this to other amphibians in the wild.

I'm not at all sure about the hibernation, but if I had to guess I'd guess that it's not essential.

why not let nature run its course?
if dudes wanna hibernate why not let them?

and i personally doubt they will because your house will be warmer then the winters they are used to so they prob. wont go into hibernation.

also im trying to look what plants are good for bog or foresty (as in moist) habitats.... like i wanted to put three plants in the ground to use the toad poo as a fertilizer XD also i wanted to make a toad house and put like vines around the top for growth umm like you knoiw how in fishtanks theres this plant that grips to rocks and stuff and you can get em to make a form or something well i wanted to do that to the toad house and i was going to make a ceramical tree (without the leaves) and put vines around it but i have no idea what plants i could do that a) most people arent alergic too b)wont harm the toad and c)looks nice and helps keep the tank nice and healthy and doesnt over grow....because i thought this would look nice and also maybe encourage less toad hidding? like mostly the rest hides but the biggest male stays around to watch
