ID strange worm
I just purchased a Xenia coral which came on a 13lbs piece of live rock, and the hitchhikers I knew were on it were two emerald crabs, and thought that was all that came with it... Then I decided to turn the lights out in the room and the aquarium to see how the new additions (Also a Galaxea coral, and a feather duster) would act after dark... That's when I noticed two new additions to my tank. One I'm pretty sure is a yellow fancy brittle star (Priced at about 50 bucks at my LFS, a pretty nice hitchhiker), but I'm not completely sure what the other is... It looks like a worm of about 3-4 inches long, with a very small brush on the end (The 'bristles' of the brush are about 1mm or 0.5mm long, very short), and it retracts quickly (Fully retracted back into the rock in about 1 second)
Also, the red lighting in some of the pics is from my flashlight, I've found most marine creatures are attracted to red light (my clownfish chase it!), others just ignore it/don't see it
Here's the (possible) fancy yellow brittle star
And here's the strange worm (partially extended)
And about as extended as I've seen it
Peanut worm. Very common, very beneficial.
Thanks a lot! That's the worrm!
