diy stand? I am thinking of building my own stand for my 20 gallon but i was wondering How much a pre-made wooden one with doors and everything would cost? My dads freind would help me built it, hes a carpenter. |
It would all depend on the wood, As wood prices vary depending on the type. But to give some insight it should not run no more then $50. |
Home built furniture grade stands cost about the same as garbage LFS stands. It is very easy to overbuild and over trim for less money. I'm a big fan of custom cabinet stands over store bought. My custom stand looks hundreds of time nicer than anythign I could get in a shop for $400 and only cost me $350 and came with matching canopy. |
For more information about building a do-it-yourself stand, check out the topic SKAustin created, detailing his experience building his own: http://www.fishforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=328 I didn't build my own, but I imagine it would feel a whole lot more rewarding to look at the tank and know that I had. Let us know what you decide to do! Good luck, Admin :) |
I found my stand for my 55 gallon for less than $100. It's 100% wood, with doors. I'm sure yours would be much cheaper. |
im going to build the stand so it will be just the way i want it. |
