what do i do while my platys is prgnant do i put her in a seperate tank them take her out when she has the babies or do i let her have her babies in the main tank then take the babies out?[/code]
My platy just had babies to and I didnt know that she was pregnant. I would put her in a separate tank until she has the babies then take her out.
If you want to keep most of the fry, a separate birth tank is a great place for the female to spend some time. I try to get out a week or so ahead of a drop so the female can settle in and relax before the fry come. If the female is well fed and you have good cover in that tank, you will be able to save most of the fry by just removing the female after she drops the fry.
