Jack Dempsey Silver Dollar and a Midas Cichlid 125 gallons? Can a Jack Dempsey a Silver Dollar and a Midas Cichlid live together in a 125 gallon aquarium? I have a female midas cichlid and the guy I got her from is selling his 40 gallon tank with a Jack Dempsey and a Silver Dollar in it, and a 125 gallon tank. So what I was thinking is that I could buy both tanks and put the Jack, Dollar, and Midas in the 125 gallon tank and put my 2 fancy goldfish in the 40 gallon tank. The tanks are both fresh water. Would that work? Or would they kill each other? |
silver dollars like to school i would keep a group of 6 or more. Im not to sure about the cichlids though. |

depends on filtration and what not. I have kept 4 before and they were happy and healthy though i raised the number to 6 then gave them away recently |
That might be a little heavy on the stocking, but as long as you were careful about water changes and had a lot of filtration you would probably be ok. The thing you've really, really got to watch out for is fighting between the Jack Dempsey and the Midas. |
I don't think that you have to have 6 silver dollars, I think 4 should do it. Are the Midas and Dempsey about the same size? |
