Would I be able to put a rainbow trout in with my sa cichlids? It's like 5 inches.
Did some quick research. They require clear cold water (not over 68) and will eat fish up to 1/3 of their own size. Those two things alone would tell me it's probably not a good idea.
It is a pretty clear no. Rainbow trout are a true coldwater species and will not live long in water above 68F. They also require highly oxygenated water. Not to mention that the rainbow in mention will get larger than 5 inches. I do not recommend adding one under any circumstance.
The two are entirely incompatible. If you want to do a trout tank you would need to create a coldwater stream setup.
