Spotted African Cichlid fry- What do i do?
i have a 65 gallon aquarium with aproximatly 18 african cichlids occupying the various tunnels and caves. they are only about a year and a half now and i did not think that they were mature enough to breed yet. however, yesterday, i spotted a baby fish that was already about half an inch long! it was beige with spots on it. i also noticed one of the older fish had turned brown rather than its regular yellow colour and it also seemed very territorial. Is it possible that they can actually bred at this age? Also i have no idea what to do at this point. how can this little fish survive in a tank full of aggressive cichlids? any ideas what to do?
It's definitely possible for fish to breed at this age. Many fish are sexually mature by the time they're 1 year old, and they probably had some age on them when you go them. Congrats! I'd love to see photos of the tank and fry :)
