mondo grass?

Commonly in aquariums, i see mondo grass being sold underwater, and to my understanding, they are not true aquatic plants. However, will they grow underwater or just dissolve like other non-aquatic plants? Also if its grown half in water and half out, like, 6 inches of water, will they be able to survive?

I'm pretty sure the roots will rot first with mondo grass, which means it wouldn't even work well in a partial setup. There's lot of other grasses that are fully aquatic and work really well, so I'd stick to those.
