Weird gross stuff?
 

Ok I had this weird stuff growing on my drift wood in my new tank that hasn't even cycled yet. At first it was flowing in the current and looks bigger. But now I think its dead because it looks like harder.

It's hard to tell from the picture. Is it like a white mould perhaps? Did you boil the wood before putting it in the tank Little-Fizz?

:shock: Uh oh, no I didn't. The chick who sold it to me said it would be good. She said just the big chunks I had to boil. I figured she was right, because these are like... Screwed onto a rock and I guess I assumed it would be fine. I guess thats a huge mistake on my part.

wait the ones screwed on a huge rock are usually already treated. The patches are normal i think, some fish will nibble and eat it.

What type of wood is it? Grape wood isn't fit for the aquarium because it will always grow that slimy white mold stuff on it.

Umm... I couldn't tell you what kind of wood it is. I think its just drift wood? But I believe sincrisis is correct and that the wood is pre treated. I bought it at big al's so I would seriously hope that it is fit for aquariums... Or else :evil:
