Water evoparating Quickly?
Well my tanks water level keeps going down...Any way to stop this?
i know its not a leak
do u have a covering on your tank? If u don't that would explain your fast evaporation rate. Also check your aquarium heater if you have one, if the waters too warm it will evaporate faster too.
How fast is it lower?
After a week how much water do you have to put in to top it back off?
How big is your tank?
What kind of lights do you have?
How close are the light's to the water?
Do you have a cover with a tight seal to tank?
Water will evaporate from a tank, there's nothing you can do to stop it only slow it. I have a 55 gallon tank and I lose about 1.5 to 2 gallons of water from it a week.
yeah I got a lid
I lose Like 2-3 galons a week of water
The water know is like inch and a half away from light(I will add A bit more latter)
And the heater isnt on most of the time becuase its hot in the house and the water stays at 75-78 degrees
How large is your tank?
I think he's talking about the 60 gallon in his blurb. If so, then the amount of evaporation is pretty normal.
Do you have a glass canopy? Those tend to do a better job of controlling evaporation than the plastic ones. If you're a go-to fishkeeper, you can top off the tank with conditioned tap water every day. Or, if you're lazy like me, you'll just add the lost water back during your weekly water change.
well My tanks is close to this at the top
Im just going to add water to my weekly water change or when company comes over
On a tank that large 2-3 gallons in a week isn't anything to worry about. When you refill your tank just fill it up as high as you can, good chance it won't become visible before a week is out.
