i have some question..
guys, is lettuce a good food for cichlids?
I, sometimes, feed my cichlids Romaine lettuce. It is my assumption, based from years of keeping cichlids, that lettuces, such as Iceberg and such, are not necessarily good for your fish. This is something that I was told many years ago and I've never doubted it or experimented beyond that information.
Well iceberg lettuce is mostly water, so I would venture to guess that it's just not as nutritious as the darker romaine. Not at all sure if it would actually be bad for them, though.
It also depends on what cichlids you're talking about. Some of the American cichlids are mostly carnivorous so they might not bother with greens, but African cichlids from the Rift Lakes should really enjoy some greens.
thanks for the replies guys.. i have an african cichlid.. so, the lettuce are ok for them, eh?
Yes. U can do it. But I have a lot of african chicleds and i give them sera flora. It is very healty for all of chicleds. You can use this too.
