adding fish and retesting?
 

so finally after much struggling the tank is cycled and stable (has been for a few days now.
going to start adding fish back in, firstly was hoping 3 serpea tetra to add to the 2 in there...

so assuming i go out and get 3 serpea and add them to the tank, how soon and then how often thereafter should i retest my tank.
should i wait 6 hours, 12 hours...dont want to waist drops (test kits are so expensive) but want to keep an eye on everything so...

I would test once every other day for a week or two. After that, once a week is fine!!

after adding the 3 new ones id give it at least 24 hours. if everthing checks out then wait 2 days. if all is still good id go to a normal once a week. at least thats whats worked for me. ive got to get another test kit and quite frankly dont have the money for it. i will say this though i know the api kit is awesome but there are some cheaper alternatives.

i use tetra laborette test kit, it doesnt have nitrate test but it was almost half the price. i think it also contains less tests also compared to the master test kit. the next one i buy will probably be the api but at 30 bucks it can wait just a little longer.

at zeros again today so think im going to try adding a couple today, ill test again tomorrow and then on sunday (as ill be gone for the weekend.)
